CE-ATA: Storage Interface for Handhelds

Abstract

Disk drive applications in handheld consumer electronics equipment is seeing explosive growth, yet the disk interface typically used for that application today is poorly suited for that purpose. CE-ATA promises to deliver a storage interface tailored to the needs of small formfactor disk drives in handheld CE applications. Some of the shortcomings of existing interface solutions for this application will be discussed as well as the approaches CE-ATA is taking to address these areas, with additional focus on areas supporting improved integration efficiency.
