Storage is the enabler for many digital entertainment devices in the living room and around the home. Personal video recorders, cable and satellite set top boxes, networked shared storage, cameras, audio players, media servers, multimedia PCs and more require different sizes, capacities and hard drive feature sets. It isn’t your traditional hard drive anymore! During this panel discussion, Maxtor will examine the various new types of hard drives and hard drive-based entertainment devices that help enhance the digital entertainment experience.
As Maxtor Corporation’s senior director of advanced
concepts, Mike Alexenko is responsible for defining the roadmap and leading the
architecture and definition of the company's branded products for networked and
emerging consumer markets as well as small business applications.
Alexenko has been with Maxtor since 1996. Prior to his
position as senior director of advanced concepts, Alexenko was a senior
director of technical marketing and product planning. In that position he
evangelized and led activities in the development and implementation of
standards and specifications such as 1394 and Serial ATA.
Alexenko has more than 20 years experience in the storage
industry, including hard disk drives, tape drives and systems, spending half of
this time in software development and the other half in technical marketing and
business development. Prior to joining Maxtor, he held several positions at
Seagate/Connor Peripherals, StorageTek and NCR Corporation. He has authored
numerous articles on storage technologies, applications and storage in
non-computing applications, and was an early evangelist of storage in consumer
applications.
Alexenko holds a bachelor’s of science degree in computer
science from Wichita State University.
