
Following the proven history that most technology applications were not meaningful until someone put a hard disk drive (HDD) in them, the consumer electronics industry has now found its way to the venerable HDD, bringing a new generation of mobility and functionality to digital devices. However, not all consumer applications are created equal, and the storage industry must understand and embrace the unique requirements and operating conditions for various consumer electronics categories. During this panel discussion, Maccabe will address the specific storage requirements for today's popular consumer electronics devices, as well as examine the appropriate consumer electronics applications for storage technology.
Scott J. Maccabe is vice
president and general manager of Toshiba’s Storage Device Division. His responsibilities include the strategic
planning and direction of the division, as well as managing day-to-day
operations.
Maccabe’s strong management
background includes over 25 years of business experience in sales, marketing,
service and strategic/operation planning.
Before joining Toshiba, Maccabe served as senior vice president of
sales, marketing and service at Quantum/ATL Corporation. His responsibilities included overseeing
Quantum’s global sales and marketing efforts, as well as participating in
Quantum’s corporate executive strategic planning team. Prior to Quantum, Maccabe spent 12 years at
Fujitsu Computer Products of America in a variety of sales management
positions. He has also held operations,
corporate account management and field marketing positions with StorageTek
Corporation.
