For Immediate Release
San Jose, CA, October 5, 2018—The RISC-V Foundation is supplying a keynote speaker at the 2018 Storage Visions Conference. The conference will be held October 22-23, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Santa Clara, CA (www.storagevisions.com). The agenda for the Storage Visions Conference is at https://storagevisions.com/2018Agenda.htm.
Following is the title of the RISC-V keynote by Adam Roberts, Composable Architecture: The Combination of Compute and Storage Innovations
Booming growth in both compute and storage have effectively changed how best to tie the traditional SW and HW layers together for scale, as well as which new SW and HW layers to use. This have given rise to the demand for a new paradigm in the data center. Composable infrastructure takes into consideration: Strategic changes in storage device functionality, form factors, capacity points and new computer platforms. The result is hardware that performs compute with open source hardware and software, combined with new more functional and powerful networks. In this presentation, the interactions and benefits of new data center components, and their role in a new, more efficient datacenter, built around composable infrastructure will be explored with an inspiration to rethink compute.
Adam Roberts is an Engineering Fellow within Western Digitals CTO Group. He has Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering Degrees from North Carolina State University. Starting with a 6-year career in Pharmaceutical Engineering, Adam went on to hold various development and strategy positions in the Enterprise Server and Storage Industry for the past 18 years. He was the Head Engineer for IBMs System x RAID and Storage Group followed by 7-years as IBMs Chief Strategist for System x Flash Solutions before joining SanDisk/Western Digital for the last 4 years. Adam has approximately 200 patents and IP publications issued or pending.
This two-day conference and trade show bring together the vendors, end users, researchers and visionaries that will meet growing demand for digital storage for the coming data tsunami. In addition to the sessions there will also be keynote talks during the conference.
